| Tifway
is a hybrid bermudagrass that was released in 1960 by the University of
Georgia. It was tested by the USDA, the Georgia Coastal Plain Experiment
Station, the USGA, and the Southern Golf Association. Tifton 419
was later released as Tifway. The name, taken from Tifton and fairway, indicates
one use to which it is well suited. Many homeowners have been enthusiastic
about Tifway as a lawngrass. Tifway is superior to other bermuda grasses
for lawns, fairways, roughs, and tees. Tifway also makes an excellent sports
